Premiere: 8. 7. 2021,
Altefeuerwache, Cologne, Germany

Cooproduction of MichaelDouglas Kollektiv / Germany & Nový Priestor o.z. / En Vorentoe Slovakia

SHIFTING SYSTEMS develops a new instrument of choreographic ecology: an ‘ecosystem’ of space, sound and body. An accessible installation makes the interrelationships transparent and tangible – the audience can watch or actively intervene.

  • WHAT IS OUR RELATIONSHIP TO OUR ENVIRONMENT?
  • WHERE DO WE FIND OURSELVES LOCATED IN WHICH SYSTEMS AND REALITIES?
  • WHO SHAPES THEM?
  • AND IN WHAT WAYS DO WE CREATE THEM OURSELVES?

The performance is in English with slovak/German subtitles. Subtitles are subject to adapt for other languages.

The MichaelDouglas Kollektiv
The MichaelDouglas Kollektiv was founded in 2009 by the dancers and choreographers Michael Maurissens and Douglas Bateman. Unique in the German dance scene to date, the Cologne-based dance company is open to new constellations of artists to depart from the standard of choreographically led groups and produce works that explore the collaborative process of creation. Their focus: to explore art production and develop collective creation methods in a performance context. We were curious and put the collective in front of our questions. Alongside founders Michael Maurissens and Douglas Bateman, Adam Ster, and Sabina Perry make up this unique group of artistically experienced, strong personalities.
